It’s my favourite time of year!
Here are assorted vegetable-fruits, arrayed in the front porch, waiting to be cast in an autumnal display. The onion squash, that squat, reddish-orange creature, was supposed to be yesterday’s dinner – but I didn’t have the heart to cut into it. Instead I used it for the painting equivalent of target-practice.
My watercolour Moleskine sometimes makes the paint do things I do not want it to do. I need to invest in some decent paper.
This is a doodle of last year’s Halloween costume. In the end it didn’t quite look like this – my hair point-blank refused to stick up and turn purple, so instead I wore a swarm of battery-operated fairy lights above my head; also the octopus legs and bodice were black with iridescent blue underneath. As you can see, my jack-o-lantern last year (at top of post, for maximum impact
) was in keeping with the theme. The theme being pirates. Okay, only rather loosely connected; but my rule is to always be some kind of witch for Halloween, so a sea-witch it was.
