I ended up not going with ethereal or mundane, I think (narrative-wise, anyway). In the sense that this kind of being swept isn’t an everyday occurrence. One hopes.
Photoshop and graphics tablet appeared to have a little falling-out half-way through, so the finishing of this image is what we in the profession call “half-arsed”.
ETA: Apparently ‘swept’ was last week’s topic, which for some reason was showing on the Illustration Friday website front page with today’s date! Odd.
I’m all alone at home, and glad to be indoors while some classic British June weather pours down outside. The house is very still and would be quite silent except that, courtesy of Grooveshark, I’m listening to a gorgeous piece of choral music composed by Thomas Tallis. It’s one of those pieces of music that feels like floating. Does that make sense?
I’m working on a quick (supposed to be quick!) sketch for Illustration Friday, and the theme for this week is ‘swept’. My initial ideas for this were fairly mundane but the music is making me re-evaluate the picture, and it will end up being something a little more ethereal, more ‘swept up’ or ‘swept away’ than ‘the floor has been swept’. However, I do wonder if perhaps this latter interpretation is the one more likely to be used by people participating in Illustration Friday. And I also wonder if I should let this thought affect my interpretation, or not?
