Omelette of Newt

I’ve already posted a cat picture today, so here is a witch.

Since my post at the beginning of August (oops) a lot happened, including the fact that I am now using an iMac. The company I was working for in my ‘day job’ went into administration, so I decided I might as well invest some of my savings in tools that will help me with my freelance career.

The plus side of losing a job (even one as pleasantly tolerable as this one was) is that there is no reason for me to be terrified of self-employment and the lack of ‘security’ which freelancing entails, since I’ve discovered you can just as easily have no job security whilst doing something boring.

The iMac is working out beautifully so far, except for the fact that I have yet to acquire any drawing software and am having serious MS Paint withdrawal symptoms! When I have the urge just to doodle, I want a programme that’s very basic and doesn’t take half an hour to load; also it must have COLOURS. Here is some nice pixelly doodlage as an example of the kind of thing that bypasses my rational brain:

There are some characters that I <3 and don’t draw enough of these days. Fortunately I have come up with a little story idea which has consumed my waking thoughts over the past week (that is, those thoughts which aren’t already consumed by Halloween), and might end up as a small comic. We’ll see what happens, but I’m excited to have time to work on it.
